This issue has caused much anger among many people that felt betrayed (myself included) when Swiss bottle maker SIGG was forced to accept they kept information from the public on purpose, you see the lining used to protect the inside of the bottles was found to contain trace amounts of bisphenol-A or BPA, a common ingredient in plastic bottles that has raised concern for mimicking the hormone estrogen. I like many thought that switching to Aluminum bottles would eliminate the risk but it turns out the contrary is true. SIGG offered a formal appology and started an exchange program for their new bottles with a different lining (you have to pay for shipping though), but still the damage has been done, I own several of these bottles with the copper colored inner lining and now I will change to stainless steel and boicot SIGG, at least for the time being.
